Inline skating!

Omg! Outside activity in the list! Yes we’ve finally found a summer that didn’t get swallowed by an MMORPG (first FFXI, then WoW) so we have time to get out for once! We’ve taken up skating again, bought us some new gear and are now trying to prepare to join that Roller Parade stuff that’s happening all over Belgium.

As for movies, I put in Hackers again. The music and atmosphere never let me down, even though it might not be a great movie. But I love it. So there ;)

Lots of games though! That usually happens when you have these game events ;) My brain age went down to 26, while Elke reached the top score of a brain age of 20 only after 4 days of play. /sigh! The Dreamcast got some lovin’ again, we had the chance to play some PSP games and thanks to Kurt I got to play HL2:Episode 1 (only played for an hour but I’m planning on continueing.. no really!)

Next week you can expect more DS games in this list, because I’ll be replaying them all on my … DS Lite! Yes, only 5 hours to go until I can go pick it up at the store (it’s preordered so no I didn’t take a day off work :P).

Good times! ^^

The DS Lite is indeed very pretty and sexy and stuff… I bought the black one together with Brain Training. My brain age was 31 after my first try. Not that bad i guess?

    Played:
Amplitude (PS2 - yes! found it on eBay!)
Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War (PC)
Guitar Hero (PS2 - only 3 more songs to go)
Exit (PSP - played only the first levels, but it’s looking kinda cool)
Super Princess Peach (DS - found every secret, item and level. pretty ok game, but absolutely no replay value, unlike Mario)

    Listened:
Lange Frans & Baas B - Het Land Van
    Dilated Peoples
    Cunninlinguists
    and some Biggie

    Watched:
    Napolean Dynamite (strange movie)
    Football, a lotta football

    didn’t i say football is a forbidden topic? :P

I didn’t really like Exit, controls were a bit weird. maybe i need more time with it, didn’t buy it yet but for 20 euro u can’t complain.

Amplitude! Great! Awesome game! And yeh that’s a pretty good brain age to start with ;) very good even u nerd! :P

I’m loving the DS Lite. I got Trauma Center too, since you seem to approve of it on your site. Trying it later tonight ;)

My girlfriend loves Traume Center, but I think it’s not a game that everyone will love. I never played it long enough myself to have a good opinion. (my gf wrote the review, I just edited it and added some zever :))

Exit controls are indeed a bit strange. but I guess you get used to it…

just played 2 operations, it’s quite fun. don’t like the menu and overall look though. but the game plays nice.

btw, i seriously recommend putting Yoshi’s Touch & Go in the DS Lite. THE COLORS OMG THE COLORS :D . gives a good idea of what yoshi’s story 2 will look like (and the music roxx with headphones :D)

    Will try it, thanks!

That Brain Training game does have some issues man. When I write an 8, the game thinks it’s a 2, screwing up my score, and when I have to memorize those words, it doesn’t recognize some words that were actually on the list (I tested it twice, and the second time I wrote all the words down just to make sure…). Some fucked up things… but overall it’s allright. I’m already down to 25 ;)

  6. sicu said:

u’ve beaten me already ;). 25 as registerd score? not bad. although u must be training hard :P . i usually go through all the tests just once a day. if it doesn’t register i don’t bother lol

the 8 i had issues with too, but i think my bad handwriting is to blame ;)

btw, trauma center is great fun! still loving it ;)

  7. Karsten said:

Glad you like the game! And yes, it’s a registered score - day two ;)

  8. sicu said:

u’re as crazy as my girlfriend!

but stupid is the new “thing” so i feel good :P

  9. Karsten said:

meh, it’s all bullshit anyway. If you mess up during one silly test (sometimes even because the game doesn’t recognize your handwriting) your score can be very bad…
I like Brain Training, but it has some very serious flaws.

  10. sicu said:

it does, but it’s great fun. and it’s based on some real IQ tests, although yes, the handwriting and even voice recognition can fail.

if u wanna do a real IQ test, I can ask Elke, she’s got the education and is authorized to take real scientific IQ tests ;)

I’m invited to a Nintendo event for some Wii and DS action. You’ll see the pics later that day on my website ;) Yes baby!

    karsten, u better smuggle me a Wii-mote!

  18. Karsten said:

Sicu, I would if I could, but I’ll be too busy playing and trying to steal Yoshi’s Island 2 out of a DS Lite ;)

Btw, good gaming times are coming. All the good games are coming out after the summer, so now it’s ‘press trip season’. Tomorrow I’m in Paris for a Dark Messiah of Might & Magic LAN event (and I don’t even know the game, just heard of it), next week I’m in London for Call of Duty 3 (!), and the week after is Wii-day! ;)
    Good times!
