Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved

400 Euro to be playing old-school arcade games in high definition, I must be loco.

The Xbox 360 is a wonderful and powerful machine, but the thing that really got me crazy is the silly little 4 Euro game called Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, downloadable on the Xbox Live Arcade marketplace. Yes, Dead or Alive 4 is a wonderful game, with beautifully detailed models and physics (snapshot mode roxx :p), but when it comes to simple trippin’ like action, Geo Wars does the job best.

I love the fact that I can stream my music from iTunes to my 360, disabling the in-game music (not FX) and dream away on the Rez soundtrack. I guess I misunderstood “next-gen” but I’m loving this anywayz ^^

It is true, Microsoft’s better at this than making operating systems.

Although, I must say the typical flaws from MS are to be found in their 360 as well. I’ve had a couple of complete freezes, I’ve had games booting when they weren’t supposed to, I have some HD trailers that don’t run smooth and although I really like the GUI, items are sometimes very illogically placed, menu items don’t do what they are supposed to and it requires too many button presses to reach something.

But it’s a fine console and has changed the way I game for sure. So yeh, nice going MS. At least u got one thing right ;)

Yeah, i’m not totally satisfied with the dashboard either. And I don’t like it that the console always immediately boots up the game or movie in the drive while starting up. But I’m still hoping for some major update that will fix all that and give us more freedom in customizing the dashboard.
