360: Less Huge

Right. That up there is actually an iframe. Didn’t even know Safari and Firefox chose to support that because I know I wouldn’t. Frames are evil yet Microsoft seems to like pushing them.

So anyway, if you want to add me to your friendlist on Xbox Live, here you have it, my gamertag. Wonderful isn’t it? ;) I must say, even though I’ve always hated the old coffee table errr… Xbox, I do like Xbox Live. The possibility to very easily play with your friends online, have instant access to voice chat etc did change my way of console gaming. I really hope Sony will do something simular with their PS3. The new Xbox isn’t that much smaller than the old one though. It’s more an optical illusion. The design makes it more slim and doesn’t make you feel ashamed to put it in your living room.

Let’s also hope Japanese developers go crazy on the 360 though, because currently we really lack good titles. DOA4 is great, Ridge Racer 6 (still have to buy this one) looks amazing and Ninety-Nine Nights looks promising. But that’s not enough to justify the 400 Euro spent on the new console.

Nah, I’m quite happy with the 360. Only crashed 4 times already. That’s 4 times more than my PS2 though which I own a few years longer. But I must be fair, it all happened while playing demos that I downloaded, so I’ll blame those and the fact that it’s Microsoft, well, my Windows at work does crash at least twice a day… There’s no heat problem though, the brick stays cool and the 360 doesn’t get amazingly hot. My advice? If you ain’t got one, get one now. My friendlist is lonely :D

Tales of Earthsea

Tales of Earthsea

Studio Ghibli has released the trailer for its new upcoming movie Tales of Earthsea, which should be out in Japan around July. Elke is jumping for joy while I’m “looking forward” to paying another $50 to keep our Ghibli collection complete… Still, gotta catch’m all right?

You can find a link to the trailer on jeansnow.net. If anyone can provide me with more info on the song, let me know! ^^

Update: Thanks to Jean Snow and some Google, I found out that its A song of Theru and sung by Aoi Teshima.

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved

400 Euro to be playing old-school arcade games in high definition, I must be loco.

The Xbox 360 is a wonderful and powerful machine, but the thing that really got me crazy is the silly little 4 Euro game called Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, downloadable on the Xbox Live Arcade marketplace. Yes, Dead or Alive 4 is a wonderful game, with beautifully detailed models and physics (snapshot mode roxx :p), but when it comes to simple trippin’ like action, Geo Wars does the job best.

I love the fact that I can stream my music from iTunes to my 360, disabling the in-game music (not FX) and dream away on the Rez soundtrack. I guess I misunderstood “next-gen” but I’m loving this anywayz ^^

Hell froze over!

Dead or Alive 4

Really. It did. And it’s a good thing too, since I had no idea what to write for our 100th post on the blog!

Most important: Elke got a new job! Finally, after searching for months, wasting precious leave days, she found a new job. She wanted better, she got better! And it’s only an half hour trip instead of an hour! All good things! We’re celebrating tonight! \ ^^ / Champagne!

Less important, but reason enough for hell to really have frozen over: today I read you can connect an Xbox 360 to Apple’s iLife, which means you don’t need the crappy Windows Media Center to get your pictures and music on your big screen. This and the fact that Elke bought me Dead or Alive 4 for Xbox 360… well, I guess you see where this goes.

There’s still a lack of Xbox 360s, so I didn’t find any in the stores and had to order one. So it’s on its way. Yes, I’m not proud, but something has to feed hi-def to our telly no?
