Firefox

Okay, if you are still using Internet Explorer, SHAME ON YOU. It’s the browser from hell if you are a webdesigner/developer or do anything related. It’s pretty good at installing all kind of spyware, changing your homepage and crashing your pc though.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past months, you should know that the new browser leader is Firefox. Although I use Safari on my mac all the time, I don’t dare than boot anything else than Firefox on my Windows.

I’ve done the antiIE discussion hundreds of times, so I’m not going into detail on that here, unless someone starts commenting that is ;). But if you already are using the superior browsing solution, type about:config in your url bar to access all config settings you didn’t even know existed. And try about:mozilla for some funny text ;)

Where’s my supersuit?!!

I’m a great fan of anything related to computer graphics. I did my thesis at the CG research group of the KUL on Image-based 3d Modeling (the thesis site will be available here soon, as part of The Dig Project) and I even had the chance to meet and have a drink with Per Christensen, lead developer at Pixar (and who also worked on the Final Fantasy movie).

So naturally, you’d expect me to see every 3D animated movie out there. Well, … no. I thought Toy Story 1 & 2 were good, technology-wise, but didn’t really love them. Never seen A Bug’s Life, nor Antz. Seen Ice Age, laughed alot, seen Shrek 1 & 2 and didn’t really like them, loved Final Fantasy, liked Monsters inc. (great hair Sully! Amazing…) and adored Finding Nemo.
Now you know ;) (as if you care)

And yesterday, a year after the teaser which was incredibly funny, The Incredibles finally arrived in Belgium. And I must say, it was great! The graphics were amazing, but this time it really felt like watching a movie. A real movie, not kiddy toy like, but a real animated action/comedy movie. I can only say, go watch it. In English please, duh, since Samuel L. Jackson has a role aswell. The combination of family problems and superheros is hilareous, the action is intense and .. well.. go see it. This ain’t a review site ;)

So they did it again, they made a movie better than the last one. I pitty the guys from Ice Age, since their new Robots doesn’t really look amazing. And Shrek2? Although I loved the voices, that’s about it. I’ll get flamed for all this I guess ;p

Anyway, let me know what you thought. I’m curious.

First Euro Apple Store

After Japan, it’s our turn now, although a fair amount of swimming is still needed if you want to get there cheap. I’m talking about the new Apple Store, the first one in Europe, to have been opened in Great Brittain!

More info on that at the end of the year when we are heading to London for Christmas. We’ll take some pictures for you guys ;)

Spot G-Man

For the people playing Half-Life 2 (and honestly, who’s crazy enough not to), here’s an interesting thread.

We noticed him on the dam, by accedently zooming in on it. He was gone once we got there though. Weird ;)

Pulp Trivia

Seeing as I’m a great fan of Pulp Fiction (and every other creation by Quentin Tarantino) (and yes the name of the site is based on that film, for those who still haven’t figured that out ;)), I really loved reading this page on the IMDB site.

Makes me want to watch all QT’s movies all over again ;)

Half-Life 2

Finally. It’s here. I’m not going mad like my collegues though, but I am excited none the less.

Level Up! is excited too, although they are pc-less. So they won’t be getting any candy… or are they? ;) Uninvited is off finding a shop that has it and is bringing it over tonight. He bought a pc when it was supposed to be released (30 sept. 2003), was severely pissed and sold it again a week or two later. Mi pc e su pc unf! :P So don’t worry, you’ll play ;p

Now we only have to find a way to get pumpk1n away from the pc… away from FFXI. lol We’ll keep you up to date!

Face hug!

Alien vs Predator… just what I expected, nothing more, nothing less. It’s a braindead action movie, with some nice cgi and cute aliens, and if you’re seeing it on tv you’ll say it sucks. The only thing keeping you busy is the big ass creatures on a giant screen with nice loud (extreme loud sometimes at our town) surround sound. It was over in no time though, seeing as the movie only contained 1:30h of footage. They even put in a break of 6 min, which is quite unusual here, but I guess some folks needed a little time to think about what just happened :P

So no, I will not see it again, I won’t buy it on dvd, but I enjoyed it none the less. The only thing that bothered me was some bad acting and the fact that everything happens so fast you can’t even tell one team member from another. You get introduced and they are dead. And as our human nature doesn’t care for people dying we don’t know, you don’t care when they get grabbed by face hugger and see their guts fly all around when the little creature hatches.

I liked the idea though, seeing as the way they present our history is based on an existing (and my favourite) theory by Zecharia Sitchin, which gives an alternate explanation on the missing link, the pyramids etc. So those who thought they invented it themselves, think again ;)

So, if you’d like to see the movie, see it at the cinema and you’ll be entertained, but don’t bother on small screen, because it’ll be a huge disappointment.

Vote smart, vote K-Mart!

That’s shop smart, shop k-mart … see Army of Darkness (tnx uninvited for the dvd! :P). But really, vote smart damn it. The world is in your hands and watching you…

But I’m not going into politics now, neither am I going to bother you with Final Fantasy XI, because you can read it all on our Linkshell site. So what am I gonna talk about?. No idea. lol. Oh yeah now i remember, Alien vs Predator. They tell me it sucks, but I loved the Alien movies so I really have to see this one. Released on Wednesday so you know where to find me that day ;) I missed Dodgeball though. And Resident Evil 2. Damn Final Fantasy XI eating up all my time ;)

Halloween weekend was fun. Started off seeing Jeepers Creepers while playing FFXI. Wasn’t too bad. Just weird actually. Next day we had a party to go to, organised by Kurisu and his girlfriend. We saw some weird ass French movies (Vibroboy, Le Dernier chaperon rouge,…) and ate too much chocolate, plus the Playstation2 died before the party started. When going home there was this Halloween fog, damn. You couldn’t see nothing on the road and we had 50km to go. But we got home safely. Halloween day itself we actually did nothing but play FFXI. Did see Poltergeist, Halloween and some other movie though. Not bad ;) Poltergeist had been a while, since the last time I saw it I was 8 and didn’t sleep for 3 weeks. Oh well, now I’m immune to horror flicks but still scream like a girl in horror survival games ;)

Anyway, I suggest you check out our SilentDeath linkshell site, since it’s full of great screenshots and stories. No I’m not wasting my life! :P
